Mama Never Told Me
by MIZMAN

And one day, my mama she told me
Don't laugh at anyone's dreams
And one day, my mama she told me
to talk slow but to think quick

And mama, she said to me
Don't let weeds grow upon your dreams
Don't let time wash away
what always was so strong

Learn the rules, then break some
but don't break anyone
And never be ashamed of honest tears
And never be afraid to dance with your fears

So I said to her then that my life just isn't the same
And I asked her how to live and not complain
But she never ever told me what I should do with lost love
So here I sit with only one dream I'm dreaming of

Now I'm sitting here and I'm cold
I watch those trees grow old
And I've always thanked them for being that way
And I've always thanked them but I couldn't stay

I couldn't stay

So I left them standing and I left my life back home
And I came into a strange world where people lived alone
And all I've ever wanted was to be back with my life
So here I sit with only one dream I'm dreaming of

Could have said "never let her walk away"

The one time I needed mama to show me the way
As I sat thousands of miles left astray
A simple word could have made it all ok
But its just something a mother can’t say

The times had been great in every single way
Except for that one love I wanted to stay
And not taught to hold on to it was a shame
Cause it's just not something that mama would say
